Some two decades years ago, I met Salvi C. the way most music fans did — he generously reached out with some nugget of knowledge or mind-blowingly rare recording. But we also became real friends in real life, thanks to our shared obsession with the Dictators. “This thing of ours,” as he always called it, led to us hitting more shows than I can count and having more fun than I can remember. Along with his great pal Robbiecube, we even started this here DFFD Blog — a true labor of love for the band that brought us together, delivered some of the best live shows of our lives, and even broke our hearts, on occasion.
As the man singlehandedly most responsible for populating the internet with Dictators lore, Salvi never forgot a single thing about “this thing of ours,” and we were all the richer for his magnanimous sharing here of his astounding archives, killer interview “gets,” and signature silly comic stylings.
Check out his author page for the whole enchilada from the Cincotta Archives, but here are a few of my favorites of his posts from here:
My First Time With the Dictators (And They Were Not Gentle With Me)
Fingers and Steel, Baby! Our Picks for the Top 10 Ross the Boss Solos
Our Tribute to Stu Boy: Part 1
‘Manifest Destiny’ — Yay or No Way? (also featuring the late great Mike Mindless)
Love at First Listen: The Dictators Go Girl Crazy!
He really was the great guy that everyone says he was: kind, intelligent, silly, and incredibly sweet. I loved him and will miss him so much.
Rest in peace, Salvi — D.F.F.D.
